The Handpan
Handpans are round, ufo-looking saucers with circular indents. They make a sound that often feels like it is from another time or place. Usually made from steel or ember, these instruments offer a meditative haven for the mind, brain, and body.
See below for a short list of beginners steel drums/handpans. Keep in mind that professional handpans often come at the premium price of over $2500 USD or more. The items on this list, created for the Family Music Program, include those that are under $100, to allow users an opportunity to get to know the instrument before deciding if a greater investment feels right at this time.
The Native Flute
Fashioned from wood, with five or six holes along the front, the Native Flute is - as in its name - an old instrument with a rich history. Known to be used by the Natives of North and South America, they carry a rich tune that seems to communicate with nature itself.
Each flute has its own musical note, and thus emits a different frequency of sound. Surprising as it may be, this instrument can carry tunes far more complex than meets the eye.
The Guitar
At sing-alongs and in studios and as backup tracks to your favorite songs, the guitar carries a history collected in many countries and eras, all compacted into the rich sound of wood and string.

The Keys
Whether electronic, baby grand, or a full wing on a stage, the piano and keyboard open a world of fun and flow for all who play.
There are scores of music sheets that can help you play old tunes and classical music in its finest form, as well as an infinite combination of black and white that you can explore yourself to create your very own new tunes.
